In 1983, Amitabh Bachchan suffered a mishap during the Diwali celebrations when he burnt his left hand. As a result, he was seen keeping his left hand in his pocket, which became a style of his character.

For this movie, Kishore Kumar got all the five nominations for best male playback singer at the Filmfare Awards, the highest for any singer at the Filmfare Awards. He won he award for the song "Manzilein Apni Jagah".

Prakash mehra got a camera which can be used for shooting than there is no need for dubbing. It was used in this film. Om prakash got an award for best performance in this film.composer bappi lahiri his 2nd film with amitabh. The script of this film was given to kader khan 4 months before the shooting started so he could concentrate more, thats why the dialogues are very good. After this film amitabh bachchan was turn director with a film tittled ' ek gunaah aur sahi ' to be produced by prakash mehra, but then amitabh entered politics and film was shelved.

Amitabh initially had planned to deliver his lines slowly like a drunkard but Mehra felt the film would be 5 hours.

The director decided not to dub the anti-climax scene of Munshi's death as they felt very emotional after Amitabh's performance.

In the song "Mujhe Naulakha Mangwa De Re", when Amitabh Bachchan hit the ghungroo on his left hand, his real blood was shown and it was not artificial colour.

Mayur had earlier played child artist of Amitabh in Muqaddar Ka Sikandar,LAAWARIS, In this film he played an important character who works in a bar as a waiter.

Smita Patil made an uncredited cameo in the song Jahaan Chaar Yaar. Scenes that were shot for Namak Halaal and later edited out were incorporated here by Prakash Mehra.

At 4:19 in the song " Intezaar Ho Gayee" was sampled from " The Runner " by The Three Degrees. At 1:06 of the song "Rock N Roll" from Main Balwaan,the same tune can be heard.

There were reports that Amitabh was not happy seeing the end product. While Amitabh was in the hospital with Myasthenia Gravis, Mehra had put the final touches to the film. Amitabh was not happy with the unimaginative background music used in the scenes where he used voice modulation and long dialogue delivery. Amitabh made his suggestions but Mehra ignored it. This was the first cracks in his relationship with Prakash Mehra.

During the height of height of the war between Manmohan Desai and Prakash Mehra, Manmohan Desai made the comment "Only a sharaabi can make a film like Sharaabi, while a Mard can only make a movie like Mard". Not to be out done, Mehra responded "Only a Coolie could stoop so low and make a comment like that".

Prakash Mehra accused Manmohan Desai of pulling some strings and preventing Sharabi to release at the Alankar theatre in Mumbai. Alanakar was huge theatre in Mumbai. Desai stated he did not even visit Alankar theatre when his film Coolie released there. These were all lies and Mehra was only finding excuses.

Prakash Mehra claimed that during the making of Laawaris he met a well known industrialist. He had a sharp business acumen. But he was a major alcoholic. But his work never suffered due to his addiction. Prakash Mehra decided to use this character as an inspiration for Sharaabi .

Manmohan Desai bashed the film . He stated what kind of message was Prakash Mehra giving the audience ? That one should drink day and night, waste their father's hard earned money then abuse him verbally in public.

The song "Inteha Ho Gayee" was sampled from the song "L'Italiano" by Toto Cutugno .

Madlib song " More Rice" was sampled from " De De Pyar De".

The song " De De Pyar De" was sampled from " Allah Megh De" from Guide.

The song "Jahan Chaar Yaar " was sampled from Runa Laila's song "Bondhu Tin Din Tor Bari" (Suno Suno Mere Yeh Kahani).The original source for both songs was Nirmalendu Choudhury classic song "Shohag Chand Bodoni"

"Ms Fat Booty" by Mos Def, sampled the song "De De Pyar De".

"When Yuh Had Meh!" By King Raj is a cover version of "De De Pyar De".

The song " De De Pyar De" was inspired by " Nahin Lagta Dil" from Jail Yatra.

The song "Jahan Chaar Yaar " was sampled and remixed in song "Bombay Skyway (Una Bomba Live in Mumbai) by Una Bomba. This song was released internationally .

Bappi Lahiri reused his tune from "Kiske Pyar Mein" from Pasand Apni Apni for the song "Jahan Chaar Yaar".

During the Amitabh, Smita part in the song "Jahan Chaar Yaar", the song " I Cant Stand The Rain" by Ann Peeble's and another version by Eruption is sampled. The same tune was earlier used in "Kisi Ke Pyar Mein" in Pasand Apni Apni. Bappi Lahiri would go on and use the same beat/bass line in the song Suno Suno Mere Kahani Suno by Runa Laila from the album Superuna. He then followed it up in the song "Saath Mere Aaogi, Ice Cream Khaogi" in the film Justice Chaudhary.

During the song Jahan Chaar Yaar, Amitabh dresses up in a wig and mustache.This same look was reused again in Jaadugar for the song Murga Hua Deewana.

The song " Mujhe Naulakha Manga De " was later sampled in the song "Pyar Ka Nasha" by Runa Rizvi and Bappi Lahiri.

In the film, there is a scene where Amitabh gets Ranjeet drunk and makes him dance. Bappi Lahiri composed a Arabic sounding tune. Where his source was from is still unknown. Channi Singh from Alaap was also inspired by this tune and used it in the intro of his song "Asi Pyar De Pujari" (1986). Bappi later used that same tune/rhythm for the intro music of the song " Main Pyar Ki Pujarn" in Hatya (which was a remake of Asi Pyar De Pujari).

Om Prakash's dialogues were sampled for the song EastSide [Ms.Chang remix] from the album Vote for worms by Adi Alamuru (Malfkntion).

Inteha Ho Gayee was sampled in the song "Inteha" by Adi Alamuru (MALFNKTION) for the album Vote For Worms.

The song De De Pyar De was remixed in the album B.I.G. Import Earl Ferns released in 1997. The song was titled Hindi Mega Mix.

The song Inteha Ho Gayee was sampled in the song One Night Stand Up by DJ HMD from the album WTF! It's Bollywood?.

The Star Alliance ft. Sheila Ferguson song "He's a Runner" sampled The Runner by The Three Degrees. This is the same song sampled in the song "Intezaar Ho Gayee".

Inteha Ho Gayi had a cover version by The Bartender.

The song De De Pyar De was first recorded by Runa Laila in the album Superuna, produced by Bappi Lahiri. The source of inspiration can be first heard in Bangladeshi singer Abbas Uddin song "Allah Megh De Pani De". The song was also used in Dev Anand movie Guide.

Deepak Parashar made a comment later on that Amitabh was insecure of him and asked Prakash Mehra to cut out his (Deepak's) verse in a song that was to be shot.

Mahurat was on August 29,1983. The film was a quickie.

This is the only Prakash Mehra directed movie in which Ram Sethi never appeared with Amitabh Bachchan. He starred with Amitabh Bachchan in all the other Prakash Mehra directed films.

Suresh Oberoi approached the producer for a role in the film. The producer told Suresh there was no role in the film worth his talent. Finally the butcher role was created for Suresh Oberoi. When asked why Suresh would ask for a role,Suresh stated that he owes his career to Prakash Mehra. He would do any role for him in any film for free. He was grateful for Prakash giving him Laawaris.

There was shelved movie Mega Star Presentation's "De De Pyar De"(1992) Music by Arpita Raaj,Produced by Bijoy K. Saha, Directed by Sujit Guha.

In 1996 there was film being made ,Jeet Films "De De Pyar De"(1996). Starring Raj Babbar,Moushami Chatterjee,Sikander,Sneha,Kulbushan Kharbanda, Music by Anand Raaj Anand, Directed by Madan Sinha.Reels:5. It got shelved.
